As Vice President of Sales & Marketing for UHSA, Shawn Barnes performs a variety of tasks, each requiring familiarity with various home health & hospice concepts, practices, and procedures. Relying upon his unique experience and the input of UHSA’s management team, Shawn develops and oversees the company’s sales function, ensuring that UHSA employees and its sales and marketing plan achieve maximum sales volume. Shawn’s duties include reviewing and analyzing information, developing new initiatives and partnerships, initiating proposals, negotiating contracts, and securing business.

Work History

Prior to joining UHSA, Shawn has worked since 2004 to provide hospice clients with managed care PBM services that enabled non-profits and for-profits alike to benefit from consistent drug pricing. A business development specialist, Shawn has also worked as Project Manager for large and small-scale events, served as Creative Director for a marketing and fundraising firm, and implemented public relations plans as a Senior Account Executive with Alabama’s largest PR firm.

Experiences

Shawn’s hospice work ignited his passion for the home healthcare industry and convinced him to apply his substantial marketing, public relations, fundraising and sales experience toward work that he finds inspiring, challenging, and that provides distinct and measurable value to others. Shawn believes that his experiences in teaching, grant-writing, fundraising, and event planning can serve non-profit home healthcare agencies well, while for profit agencies’ leadership teams will also appreciate Shawn’s experience in managing sizable staffs, strategic planning, budgeting with P& L responsibility, and media buying. Shawn credits his extensive world travel in the early 90s as providing him a unique ability to empathize with persons of various backgrounds and points-of-view.

Education

Shawn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in New College from the University of Alabama.
