Company Turnarounds
Are you having cash flow issues? Do you have problematic surveys? When companies are in trouble, many times they don't know why, or the cause could be easily targeted. Our approaches often include interim management, process analysis, and advanced training. Information system, billing, compliance, accreditation and leadership issues are addressed in a collaborative approach between existing company staff and UHSA associates.
Administrative and Clinical Interim Management
Do you now have or do you anticipate in the near future having any management vacancies? Do you have difficulty recruiting and retaining staff because of weak managers? This includes CEO, Administrator, CFO, Agency Director of Professional Services, Home Health Manager, and Hospice Manager (Therapy or Nursing). Interim management is tailored to maintain a stable environment during the transition to a permanent placement.
Management Training and Ongoing Mentoring
Are you concerned about the competence of a member of your management team? Are you concerned about retention with your management team? Do you have someone in a home care management role who does not directly report to someone with extensive home care experience in support of their needs for consultation and coaching? This unique UHSA service includes assessment of training needs and our thorough off-site mentoring program. This program involves a UHSA manager "buddy" who is just a phone call away for those managers who are new to home care or are working in isolated settings. Requires ongoing commitment between the manager and one of our mentors for continuous development through didactic and consultative activities.
Mergers and Acquisitions Assistance / LBOs
Are you considering acquiring or restructuring home care entities? UHSA can arrange and structure leveraged buyouts that allow current ownership interests to completely liquidate their position or in certain circumstances remain in the ownership/management group. We perform due diligence that includes a complete market assessment and business valuation, provide Capital/debt placement services and negotiate the contract. Post event, UHSA manages change processes.
Clinical Services
Clinical Staff Training: On-site & Web-based
Do you have a need for clinical training, tracking of contact hours and reporting as a package? Do you have a formal staff development program that you are proud of? Do you get complaints from staff about not receiving relevant, timely education? UHSA staff are capable of creating and performing all levels of clinical training on site as well as in web-based format, as appropriate to the content.
OASIS Training
When is the last time you have had up-to-date training of your clinical staff on OASIS? There is a high incidence of inter-rater reliability discrepancy with the OASIS tool. Training of your staff, especially your admission staff, greatly improves the accuracy of assessment using the tool.
Quality and Compliance Audits and Improvement
Have you recently had a disappointing Medicare survey? Our staff structure the audits to meet CoP requirements, and then engage agency staff in developing and documenting improvement plans to meet regulatory requirements.
PI Program Development
Are you satisfied with the PI plan and results in your home care division? Do you feel that your services are the best that they can be? Are your staff feeling disengaged from your PI process, or a lack of ownership of quality care? Performance (or Quality) improvement is required by all regulatory and accrediting agencies. UHSA assists with development of a plan that integrates ongoing assessment and improvement into daily operations, while at the same time assuring that all accrediting standards, state and federal guidelines and reporting requirements are followed.
Hospice QA/QI Training
Given that the new Hospice Conditions of Participation (CoPs) are scheduled to be implemented next year, have you begun preparation to revamp your Quality Improvement program? The proposed hospice CoPs require a hospice to develop, implement, and maintain an effective, on-going agency wide data-driven quality assessment and performance improvement (QAPI) program.
Orientation Plan Development and/or Implementation
Are you having problems with retention of new staff? Are your staff complaining of being "thrown to the wolves" during the orientation process? Are preceptors for new staff complaining that your orientation process is out of date or is boring? UHSA works with you to create a customized orientation plan for your agency.

Agency Process Analysis
Are you concerned that your staff may not be using the automated system to its full potential? Are your days in accounts receivable over 40 for all payers combined? Are you considering switching systems because of poor performance? UHSA Process Analysis is a must prior to consideration of automation, or when automation is not yielding desired results: Includes collection of clinical, financial, management, compliance and work flow data, analysis and recommendations for how to repair and improve processes in these areas.
Financial Systems Analysis
Are your financial performance outcomes meeting your expectations in home health and hospice? UHSA assesses your processes and performance to maximize capture of revenue, improve cash flow, lower bad debt and decrease days in accounts receivable.
Days in Accounts Receivable Reduction
Are you having difficulty collecting on accounts aged past 120 days? When accounts age to a certain point, it's difficult for a biller to maintain focus on these as well as newer accounts. UHSA can work remotely or on-site to focus on the aged accounts, so your biller can focus on the current accounts and keep your agency "in the black."
Staff Training in Home Health and Hospice Billing
Are you confident that your newer billing staff possess the competencies to keep billing and collections running smoothly and in a compliant manner? Because it's a challenge to find an experienced Home Health and/or Hospice biller, UHSA's experts can train your new biller on the intricacies of Home Care billing.
Remote Billing Services
Are you disappointed with the performance of your billing staff? Are you concerned about days in A/R? Do you have difficulty recruiting and retaining and supervising billing staff who truly know the industry and all requirements? Are you having difficulty collecting old A/R? Outsourcing billing incorporates submission of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, etc. claims, posting payments, managing adjustments, working accounts to stay current, working past accounts and working with your appointed clinical person to maintain continuity.

Are you having a difficult time maintaining your dictionaries? Understanding how PtCT's inSync dictionaries link and work together can be a frustrating challenge. As the former in-house consulting division of PtCT, UHSA's staff have the knowledge to keep your system up-to-date and running efficiently.
