As a contract Clinical Associate, Karen Meade will be able to help clients in organizational and operational analysis and cost containment, preparation for Medicare and JCAHO surveys, short term management staffing, Clinical Due Diligence, and customized teaching and training at all levels. Karen develops programs to help clients meet the ever changing challenges of Home Health i.e., improving OBQM scores, pay for performance, telemedicine, maximizing PPS reimbursement, and cost reduction/efficiency improvement.

Work History

Karen has more than 30 years progressive experience in home health and hospice, including 10 years of management and 10 years of consulting. Her management experience includes responsibility for clinical operations, JCAHO preparation, and quality assurance. Her consulting experience includes organizational and operational analysis, strategic planning, preparation for Medicare and JCAHO surveys, interim top level management, and customized education and training at all levels. She has developed job descriptions, policies, procedures and forms, staff education programs, OBQM improvement programs, and a telemedicine program with policies and procedures.

Experiences

Recent Consulting experiences have taken her across the country to work in a variety of settings. As an interim administrator for a multi-site, hospital based, Home Health Agency in Texas, she brought costs under control by implementing new staffing levels, adjusting salary structure and implementing a team model. She provided OASIS and case management training, and worked toward reestablishing regulatory and accreditation compliance. In a small Home Health and Hospice Agency in New Jersey she directed a team for JCAHO preparation. Over the last 10 years she has worked with a free standing California agency that has grown from a small start up to a multi site, multi-provider number agency. She assisted with program design, establishing a team model, JCAHO preparation, forms design, policy and procedures, correction plans, financial plans, and education and training at all levels.

Education

A graduate of St Anselm’s College, Karen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She additionally has a certificate for OASIS Specialist – Clinical (COS-C) and is a Certified Case Manager (CCM).
